Est. 1961 · B&D Ice House

For Bruno & Diane.

Bruno Dzanski — U.S. veteran, barkeep, and Southtown original — opened B&D Ice House at this corner in 1961 with his wife Diane. For over 50 years, he ran one of San Antonio's most beloved neighborhood hangouts, known for cold beer, budget prices, and a personality that kept people coming back. Bruno retired in 2014. In 2021, the owners of The Friendly Spot reopened this corner as Bruno's Dive Bar in his honor. In 2022, local Chicano artist Rubio unveiled a mural — "Bruno & Diane Forever" — on the exterior wall. This one's theirs.
